The use of cell-phones in classroom

Is beneficial the use of cell-phones in classroom?  Everyone knows that technology is literally controlling the people’s mind or in a few words, the entire world. The cell phone started to be something that you can use to call someone who is far away, but over time, the technology had an important evolutionary, so now people not just uses cell-phone to call someone, they navigate the internet, take pictures, listening to music, playing games, and many other things that in a past no one would believe it. That's why this essay will argue how beneficial it could be a good use of cell-phone in classroom. Using cellphone in classroom has many advantages. Firstly, if you have access to wifi or your own red you can search the information about are learning in classes or can deep about the information searching others authors, or compare information, etc. It’s a good way to start a debate if someone finds something different, because there are many points of view, but this is a goo

The importance of the Education for the growth of a nation

Is necessarily the "Education" for the growth of a nation? People often claim that a degree is important to reinforce their capacities, knowledge and abilities. Well, it doesn’t. The education system has proven time and time again that school is nothing but an expensive daycare for kids and teenagers. The average student doesn’t learn or is interested in the subject matter. Tha is why the education system it just implanting an idea, repeat "correct" anwsers and that's it … It does sound like the military or the army for that matter. Students are conditioned to solve problems that they very well may not face in the real world, rather than apply the answer on a piece of paper to get a good grade. This system has failed and teachers and many people alike are not to blame but the government. The state doesn’t want people who question the establish order of things, if you do so, you will be called crazy, rebel, or ignorant.  The importance of self-education

Money spent on Books

This line graph clearly shows the money spent on books in four countries of Europe (Germany, France, Italy and Austria) in different years that includes from 1995 until 2005. First of all, we can see the green line color that represents Germany, where since 1995 until 1999 the money spent on books, increased rapidly almost 10 million dollars. However, since 1999 until 2003, money decreased slightly less 10 million dollars. But Germany recovered again and even increased dramatically since 2003 until 2005. In second place, we can talk about the blue line that belongs to France. Just in 4 years (1995-1999) the money spent increased slightly almost from 55 million dollars until 60 million dollars. Then since 2001-2003 the line remained steady in 70 million dollars. Finally, the line increased gradually since 2003 until 2005 in 5 million dollars more. In third place, we can see a yellow line that belongs to Italy. In 1995 started increasing gradually until 1997, then from 1997 li

How important are champions?

In this post I will discuss about a video of Rita Pierson called “Every kid needs a champion” where she talk about her experience of being teacher, how through the relationships and interaction with other people can make you be a better person. Since I started to study in University, I have learned many things, and one of these things is the importance of interaction. The relation with the others is the base of a good learning, and how Rita Pierson said, is not about that you like all kids, is impossible like all kids, but the key is they can never know that. Is relevant question that anyone is perfect, that is the reason why children need to know teacher is a normal person like them, who can get wrong and apologies, or have a bad day like anybody. In conclusion, a significant role of the teacher (something that R. Pierson have question herself in her discuss) how can teacher raise the self-esteem of a child and the academic achievement at the same time? She answers with her

EMOTIONAL EDUCATION IN CHILDHOOD

Background: Contextualize in 2018, Chilean people have problems to control their emotions, because studies suggest that society do not have knowledge in emotional education, people are still thinking emotions like an insignificant thing. But the not controlling of their emotions, the ignorance about how to express them because is looked down upon socially, this it could mean a real problem in future. That is the reason why I am going to talk about the emotional regulation in childhood. Problem: Every day the importance of technology is increasing, that is why people are losing the capacity to socialize with other people out of computer or smartphone. And the problem that we can see is how people do not know how to express themselves, how to talk with other person; even families are getting broken sometimes because of that. But, technologies it could be one of the reasons why people do not prefer talk about their problems or emotions with other person, and prefer write on

Bio Data

My name is Romanett Alcaíno. I am an undergraduate student, cursing the second year of the career of preschool education at University of Chile, Santiago. In a first moment, I just choose this career because I have good connection with children, but in that moment, I do not know how much important it was be an educator.   As a student of the social sciences faculty, I am close to other careers related to preschool education; there we have anthropology, sociology, psychology and social work. But the area that I recently have become more interested is in childhood psychology, because there we are learning about the self-regulation emotions, how a person can recognize an emotion (happiness, rage, fear, etc.)   And can control it. Someday, I would like to have a grant to do a semester abroad, maybe in Iceland, because there they have a different form to educate. School is not like in Chile that is why I want to understand to my own how they educate children. I do not have any res

Email to Stephanie

Hi Stephanie, thanks for your email. I’m going to tell you about Laura. She is 19 years old, and she is studying nursery education with me. She is a very responsible girl; she is always reading new texts about the subjects we are studying, and I really admire her because of that, actually, I do not have time to read all of the texts that teacher send us, and she always is looking for more texts. She has a really good level of English, so you could talk with her without problem. About her family, she lives with her two parents, and she has an older brother, but he doesn’t live with them, because he got marry last January. Laura is very reserved, she doesn’t like talk with other person, she prefer lives in her own world and listening to music, or read a book in her free time. I mean, she is not a noisy person. But, the only negative thing I think she has, and I will be absolutely honest with you, she has bad-temper, sometimes I don’t know how to stay close to her when she is ang

POST 10: ENGLISH LANGUAGE CHALLENGES

Image
Hello, everybody, welcome back to my blog, this will be the last post of this semester, so today I’m going to write about all my experience writing blogs. I usually write random things that I’m thinking in English, or I listening to music in English, I watch videos in YouTube just in English and I have some foreign friends and sometimes I talk with them to video call or just we text each other, and that’s how I try to improve my written English skills, because I love languages, and then I want to learn Korean language. People say that is a little bit difficult but is a challenge for me, and I like challenges. So that’s why is not a problem for me to write blogs in English, actually I like it, even if I know that my English is not the best. Is important for me to read comments of my posts, so I read all your comments you left because I can know that my English is not bad at all and you can understand what I want to say. I think my writing now is better, I hope so, because I

POST 9: Changes to my study program

Image
Hello everybody, welcome back to my blog, today I’m going to write about changes I would like to do to my study program. As you know, I’m at second year of nursery education, and we have to study five years, but even that I think the study program is incomplete. The first subject I will talk about is “Health and cares of the child”, because I think is a really interesting and relevant subject. We are trained in basic first aids, but, we just have this subject in the first year of the career, so I think we forget some first aid technique. So, the change I would do is having in the study program another subject just to learn about first aid. I think this subject has a lot of contents and time it wasn’t enough, so I want to learn the contents we didn’t learn, nutrition, gender conception, etc. Another subject I think it has problems is “Families and communities”, because we know that families are important in the development of children, but we don’t know how to develop a goo

POST 8: A subject I have enjoyed a lot this semester

Hello, everybody, welcome back to my blog, today I’m going to write about a subject I have enjoyed a lot this semester and my favorite until now, it called: Teaching knowledge of personal and social development, 1° Cycle This subject is about to understand the development of the children, that they have different process of learning and how we have to respect every process trying not to limited them, because it could be bad in their self-esteem. The self-esteem is another important content of the subject because we will help to child to build their self-esteem, making them a confidence person who loves themselves no matter what, and it could be relevant how they relate with other person being a child or in the future being an adult. What I want to say is the self-esteem is for all rest of life and to build a positive one we have to work with family the words and the way how we relate with the child. Another relevant content is the importance of the attachment in the first cycle

POST 7: Who is a person/expert on your field that you admire?

Image
Hello everybody, welcome back to my blog, today I’m going to write about an expert on my field that I really admire and inspires me, her name is Maria Montessori. She was born on 31 August, 1870 in Italy. In those times, Italy had conservative values about genre roles, but even that Montessori when she was growing up, discovered she has aptitude for mathematics, and then her love for the sciences, specifically, biology. So knowing that, time after she became the first female doctor in Italy. Maria Montessori is famous for her “early childhood education research”, she based her methodology on Biological/ psychological, religion and pedagogical elements. The Montessori methodology has their own curriculum that is divided into five keys areas of learning: Practical life, sensorial, language, mathematics and culture, also creating learning materials (activities and toys) based on these five keys areas of learning, like the “Pink tower”, is one of her famous sensorial materi

POST 6: POSTGRADUATE STUDIES

Hello everybody, welcome back to my blog, today I’m going to write about something that scares me a lot, I hope you remember that in a past post I wrote that is hard to me think about future. Anyway, I would like to do a postgraduate course, because, today everyone knows that finish a career is not enough, I think a real professional who loves their future job needs to specialize, and a postgraduate course is a challenge for me. I would like to specialize in curriculum of nursery education or evaluation, because I think both are really difficult subjects and as I said before, I need challenges in my life, even if I feel insecure about myself sometimes, this purpose it could change how I feel about me. I have two reasons why I want to study the postgraduate course in Chile. Firstly, because I can´t imagine myself living far away from my family, I want to travel to other countries someday, but just to visit them for a short time. The second reason, is because after graduation I w

POST 5: Reflections on the demonstrations at FACSO

Image
Hello everybody, welcome back to my blog, today I’m going to write about something is making noise to everyone, the feminist sit-in at FACSO, or University at Chile. So I will give my opinion about the process to the sit-in. I think it was the start to make a change and make justice to every invisible and naturalize gender violence. It’s time to work together, maybe not all people could stayed at “toma” process or hadn’t a real participation, like me, at the sit-in process I voted just one time because University is far away from my home, and maybe it’s not a real excuse because other people comes to college even if they lives so far away, but I didn’t really have time because I had to help my mom to find a job, because we have a lot of debts to pay but we don’t have money to pay them, so I have sold clothes, books and another stuffs to help, but unfortunately is not enough. Whatever, I think it’s a slowly process; and it’s funny because we are at 21 century and there outside

POST 4: MY FUTURE JOB

Image
Hello everybody, welcome back to my blog, today I’m going to write about something that scares me a lot, and that it is, the FUTURE… more exactly, my future job.  When I was a little girl I never thought that I would be here, but here I’m, studying nursery education at the University, I still like what I’m studying now but sometimes I ask myself if I’ll be good at my work. I like kids but sometimes the way that other educators works its makes me get disappoint about the career. I would like to work with kids and their families in different places, outdoors like in a park and do a picnic, seeding in the garden or looking for insects… I don’t know, I have lot of ideas I would like to come true and I think it could work. I really want to travel someday and meet new places (well, I need to save money first) but not for working. I still remember when my dad had to travel for work (Argentina, Brazil, etc.) and he couldn’t go outside to meet new places because he should stay at

POST 3: MY PETS

Image
Hi everyone! How are you? Today I’m going to write about my pets. I have two dogs, Cony and Bony, they are so different, and they hates each other… why? Well, different ages, maybe. Cony is 12 years old and Bony is two years old. Cony is a small white poodle; she is not nice with everyone because she just loves my mother and father, and me… just sometimes. She eats weird things like Chantilly cream mix with dog food, I know is really irresponsible, but the veterinarian knows about Cony’s diet, and she said we can’t change her diet now because she is old, so Cony has to enjoy life sleeping and eating. And now, I’m going to talk about Bony. Everyone loves Bony because he is different; he is a playful big black dog, who is nice with every person near at him. He usually eats a lot dog food (not Chantilly cream) and has a lot of energy all day, so at night when I want to go to sleep he starts to bark, and he stops to bark when I’m there playing with him. So that’s at all a

POST 2: Why did you choose to study your career?

Hello, everyone! Today I’m going to write about my dream jobs, I mean, when I was a little girl I really wanted to be an actress, but when I grew up I knew that I didn’t have any talent, but then my dream was been a writer, and still been a dream because I love books and write stories, even no one read it, but is not a dream job, I think is just a hobby. I remember at the moment of applying to university I didn’t have another option, just preschool education, actually I didn’t want to study at university, but when I saw my name on the list of classifiers I felt so happy, and my family too, so that’s why I decided to study the only career I really love. My experience at University it was hard at the beginning because I’m a shy and quiet person, I don’t usually have a lot of friends, so I just talked with two girls all year, but until now, this year I think everything is better, I feel happy to talk with a lot of people and feel important to my friends.

POST 1: A country I'd like to visit

Image
Hello, everybody! Today I want to write about a place I’d like to visit. I never thought visit this place before because I didn’t feel interested about the culture, food, or whatever. This place is South Korea, a few time ago I listened to a “k-pop” song, and I fell in love, then I started to watch k-dramas, and looked for more information about the culture in that country. Even my first job it was with a Korean woman in jewelry, she was so kind and patient with me. Oh! And I’m trying to learn the language, but it’s a little bit difficult. I heard that in South Korea are a lot of funny and beautiful places, but the best of all, people says that South Korea is a really safe place. You can walk on the street with you cellphone in hand, but like everywhere not everything is good, for example, is beside North Korea, and everyone knows what is happening there. And finally, I’d like to visit South Korea, but not live there, just for a couple of weeks or maybe a little bit more, but
